Exciting New Contract for HighComp

Artec Aqua has chosen HighComp as its subcontractor in the delivery of a new and complex fish farming facility for Sævareid Fiskeanlegg in Bjørnafjorden.

At the end of May, HighComp secured the contract to supply fish tanks for the new smolt facility being built by Sævareid Fiskeanlegg, in Bjørnafjorden. The contract itself is with Artec Aqua, who is the turn key contractor for the project.

– This is a significant contract for us at HighComp, and we’re excited to get started on the project. We’ve worked with Artec Aqua before and are grateful that they’ve chosen us as a subcontractor once again. Artec Aqua is known for their high-quality deliveries, and we see this as a major vote of confidence from them, says Fredrik Faye, VP of sales at HighComp.

– We chose HighComp because they submitted a solid proposal that lived up to our expectations. Besides delivering on quality, production and installation, they also offered highly competitive pricing, explains head of purchasing at Artec Aqua, Håvard Breen.

HighComp will supply all the 40 fish farming tanks that are to be installed as part of the expansion at Sævareid Fiskeanlegg. It’s a complex project where limited space has made one factor especially important.

– This project involves construction across multiple levels. Therefore, weight reduction is crucial. Not only for the fish farming tanks themselves in terms of the walls and base, but also regarding alternative foundation solutions, explains Faye, referring to the lightweight benefits of composite.

A Unique Solution

The technology being implemented in the new facility has required specific technical solutions regarding the fish farming tanks. Extensive piping work means that each tank needs to be customized on the bottom.

– That’s not something you see every day. This project really shows the flexibility and innovation we can achieve with our composite fish tanks, says Faye.

– As Fredrik mentions, this project requires some creative solutions to achieve the flexibility and functionality the customer wants. Especially the joining of the seams has been important, because we have to tailor the length of some tanks to make room for piping and access. Making flexibility and the ability to provide creative solutions one of the key requirements when choosing our subcontractors, says Emma Johansson, project manager at Artec Aqua.

The Engineering Has Begun

During the time leading up to the contract award HighComp has had a good working relationship with Artec Aqua, discussing various technical solutions to meet the client’s needs and preferences. This work will now continue.

– Now we’ve started with the engineering work, which includes a solid phase of design and analysis. After that, the production can begin, and we expect the delivery of the tanks within the exit of 2026, says Faye.

The entire facility is expected to be completed in the latter half of 2027.

– We have experienced HighComp as thorough and solution-oriented. This bodes well for further cooperation on the project, says Breen.
